15 New Chargers Added 24 hours to Saturday, April 6th, 2013, Now 16,515 Stations Tracked!

Plugshare lists a total of 16,515 Stations
They use dynamic tracking to add new - and remove redundant, or test stations, but for those that are dropped, or removed, it is done manually, so simply adding in the new additions - does not equal the total numbers, and sometimes - new additions are listed - but need to have their duplicate entries purged. My count is 16,434 Stations. I have not listed all duplicate stations and they may not have purged them yet. I may have counted 1 as a count for one listing - but it might represent multiple chargers, hence some of the differences.

Over the last 24 hours - there have been 13 New Public Chargers added to the PlugShare network, plus 38 New Photos, and 2 New home stations being shared.

The additions tracked are:

  • New Public Chargers Added = 8 Locations, 13 Chargers
  • New Restricted Stations added = 0
  • New Photos Added = 38
  • New Home Stations Shared = 2

News Bits:

If you’re thinking that you’d love to have a Tesla Model S, but it’s just too expensive, we have some good news. Elon Musk, one of the cofounders of Tesla Motors and the CEO of the company, said over Twitter that a smaller car is on the way in about three to four years that will cost in the neighborhood of $30,000 at today’s prices.

Musk said that the small sedan would be about the size of an Audi A4 or BMW 3 Series, have fewer standard features than the Model S, and would start at about $30,000 in 2013 dollars, not including inflation. He said that it will have a range greater than...(MORE)

It may surprise EV newbies to learn that an electric car’s charger is found on board the vehicle. It’s the equipment buried in the guts of the car that takes an AC source of juice from your house, and converts it to DC—so your car’s battery pack can be charged.

That's a fact. But it doesn’t stop nearly everybody from calling the wall-mounted box that supplies 240 volts of electricity a “charger.” Actually, that box, cord and plug has a technical name—Electric Vehicle Service Equipment or EVSE—and if you have an EV, you’re going to want to install one at home.

So, it’s slightly misleading to say we’re providing guidance about chargers, because we’re really talking about buying an EVSE—which is essentially no more than an electrical device allowing drivers to safely connect an electric car to a...(MORE)

Thanks for Viewing the Blog today and Supporting this activity by your presence here.

Other ways to support this activity is to Add a Photo or two to the listing the next time you use a Charger, Or provide a note with your Check in as to great services in the neighborhood, or how well the chargers are located.

You can Also follow up the announcements of new blog Posts on my Personal Twitter Account or the EV Fest Account, as well.

"Working with Umicore has allowed us to completely recycle the Roadster battery packs profitably, without special financial incentives necessary to promote recycling (as opposed to the lithium manganese or lithium iron phosphate chemistries used in the electric vehicles just hitting the road now)."

Building the Leaf in Tennessee helped Nissan sell more of the all-electric car in the US in March than in any other month. The start of production in the UK, in Nissan's Sunderland plant, has been in the planning stages for a while and today's official start of production means the world's best-selling all-electric vehicle is now being made on three continents (since 2010, the Leaf has been made in Japan). The Sunderland plant was opened in...(MORE)
