39 New Chargers Added 24 hours to Tuesday - April 9th, 2013 + BC Charger News Bits!

Plugshare lists a total of 16,608 Stations
They use dynamic tracking to add new - and remove redundant, or test stations, but for those that are dropped, or removed, it is done manually, so simply adding in the new additions - does not equal the total numbers, and sometimes - new additions are listed - but need to have their duplicate entries purged. My count is 16,548 Stations. I may have not listed all duplicate stations and they may not have purged them yet. I may have counted 1 as a count for one listing - but it might represent multiple chargers, hence some of the differences.

Over the last 24 hours - there have been 37 New Public Chargers added to the PlugShare network, 34 New Photos, and 3 New home stations being shared.

  • New Public Chargers Added = 27 Locations, 37 Chargers

BC Charger News Bits:

Paul Bernard bought one of the first Leafs, Nissan’s purely electric car, in British Columbia. He loves his Leaf. He even started a blog about life with an electric car.

The vehicle, which can go more than 100 kilometres on a full charge, gets the Chilliwack high school teacher to work at Sardis Secondary, and allows his wife and him to shop in the Fraser Valley area. The car loses no power when four people pile in to go to dinner, says Bernard.

“This car has been great for us. We use it every day.” The only catch has been that...(More)

January 30, 2013 - British Columbia has announced a $1.3-million investment in direct current (DC) fast-charging infrastructure in 13 communities throughout the province to help electric vehicle (EV) owners plug in and get charged. Environment minister Terry Lake made this announcement in unveiling the future location of Vancouver’s first DC fast-charging station at Telus World of Science.

“It’s extremely encouraging to see such widespread interest among communities across the province in hosting and operating electric vehicle charging stations, including DC fast chargers,” said Lake. “Providing electric vehicle owners with more options to charge their vehicles will make electric vehicles...(More)

"More efficient charging stations make driving vehicles that use clean B.C. electricity a much easier choice," said Rich Coleman, Minister of Energy, Mines and Natural Gas. "B.C. families in communities throughout the province can now charge their electric vehicles more quickly and reduce their transportation energy costs."

The installation of these stations will also mark a significant milestone for B.C.'s Clean Energy Vehicle Program - completing the B.C. portion of the West Coast Green Highway, a commitment made by Premier Christy Clark under the Pacific Coast Collaborative (Washington State, Oregon, California and B.C.) to ensure electric vehicle fast charging is deployed along the Highway 99/I-5 Corridor. Electric vehicle owners will eventually be able to drive from San Diego, California all the way to Whistler knowing they can ...(More)
