New Chargers Added - Feb 28th - Mar 1st, 2013 and my ideas of what people will create!

Plugshare is now tracking 15,449 Stations!

Not so long ago - they were recognized for tracking 11,000 Stations, as recognized in Silicon Valley Business Journal! They also shared they have over 100,000 users! Maybe wee need a list of the 10 Best EV Prepared Canadian Cities!

Again, 56  People Checked into Public EV Chargers today, which means most people are still charging up at home, and just 56 needed a little extra or did not have a home charger, or they came out to a 'Soft Launch' of a new EV Charger Station Location!!

Over the last 24 hours - there have been new Public Chargers added to the PlugShare network, New Photos, and New home stations being shared.

The additions tracked are:

  • New Public Chargers Added =  7
  • New Photos Added = 22
  • New Home Stations Shared = 4

Special thanks to Gary, Sam Milroy, Christy, & Nina for sharing their Home Stations access with us today!

New Chargers are being added daily - and almost every day - the number is either steady or growing!
The number of Check-ins as reported show a small but consistent base of users using the public infrastructure and charging stations, and I would expect this number to grow more as the weather warms up!

One thing I see the opportunity for out there - is a unique solutions oriented business - one that can combine 2 single 120V Charging feeds at 15-20 Amps and pair them into a single 240V Service cable - to deliver 15 - 20 Amps to the vehicle with otherwise lacking 240 Service!

Similarly - I expect to see creative people coming up with solutions to interface the Model S to the CHAdeMO network - which, while not 90 kW like the Tesla Super Chargers, will be 25 kW to 50 kW units, and their proliferation - particularly at coming Nissan Dealerships, and Highway Service Centres, will widen the flexibility of even the best range Tesla Model S!

I even see entrepreneurs coming up with add-on Range Extending Battery Packs for Electric Vehicles - as has been done in the past to make the basic Toyota Prius, into a Plug-in Prius! (The ideas should not be all that different!) There already are Battery Trailers coming into development in Germany.

New Chargers Added - Feb 24th - 25th, 2013 & January, 2013, Toronto GTA

Over the last 24 hours - there have been new Public Chargers added to the PlugShare network, New Photos, and New home stations being shared.

The totals tracked are:

Local to the Toronto / GTA 'Nearby' - for the Month of January, 2013:

  • New Public Stations = 32

  • New Photos Added =  19
  • New Home Stations Shared = 1

There are more chargers being added in February, also.

There is a continuing growth of input into Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, as can be seen from these specs. We are still in the very beginning stage of building out infrastructure, but the continuing growth is moving the opportunities forward for many areas for people to drive Electric Vehicles and get Charged Up - while not being at home!

Most Auto OEM's are still only showing one Electric Vehicle, or Plug-in Hybrid each, in their respective Fleets or Product Designs, but some are bringing out their second Electric Vehicle in 2013, and more are coming in 2014! The Range of Plug-In Hybrids, has gone from just one (1) - the Chevy Volt, to already announced for 2012-2013 - Volkswagen, Ford (X2), Toyota, and more are expected!

PlugShare has the Most EV Charging Sites

There are currently on Monday, February 25, 2013, at 3:32 PM Toronto Time, 15,397 Total Stations tacked by www.plugshare.com where you can plug in your Electric Vehicle, or Plug-in Hybrid, to get charged up!

This Blog will be my synopsis of regular activity and updates on the plug share website for Electric Vehicle Charging Station. I will regularly list the current total number of stations, number of stations added, and if possible - the number of check-in's or uses of public stations. The Goal will be to make an update post at approximately daily intervals - working towards a 24 hour summary of activity and growth.

The majority of the posts will be for the whole network - but some will also be for my nearby Greater Toronto area -as shown here:

I hope this blog will provide useful information, and become a place to stop by and see the latest information, besides going to Plugshare for updates!
